About Us

First of all, welcome to our blog!

We want this to be a place where we can keep a record of our journey as we tackle some major milestones in our lives – starting a family, building a house and starting a business. You might think that we’ve given ourselves quite a bit to do – and you’d be right. Way too much. So who knows how this will all pan out – but then that’s surely part of the fun 🙂

If you want to follow along, the best way is to pop your email address into the box at the top of the page. We can’t promise there will be regular updates – more likely a once in a while kind of thing.

You can also follow us on the Twitter, or if you fancy it, our YouTube channel.

Feel free to leave comments below – it would be nice to hear from you!

Take care,
Dean & Hannah

Hi both, I came across your blog after reading the Graven Hill newsletter. I see you are on your self-build journey so I was wondering if I could send you through some information about our Waste Water Heat Recovery systems? I’m not sure if you are familiar with WWHR but it works by recovering heat from waste water (during showering) and uses this to pre-heat incoming mains water. This helps to save energy and keep hot water bills down. It’s also the most cost-effective way of increasing a Standard Assessment Procedure Score to pass Building Regulations. My direct email is Jessica@powerpipehr.co.uk if you would be interested in finding out more and receiving some background reading, developer testimonials and media coverage. Many thanks, Jess

    • Hi Jessica, thanks for getting in touch. We’ve not actually seen the latest newsletter yet, so we’ll have to take a look!

We’re still quite early days in the design process at the moment, so we’ve not considered WWHR as yet. We’re diligently keeping track of all these ideas and suppliers though, so we’ll certainly add you to our list 🙂

      Warm regards,
      D&H

Thanks for getting back to me both and do let me know if you need any information in the future. The newsletter is great so I imagine you will have quite a few visitors to the website! I have a little boy (nearly two) as well so hats off to you for cracking on with your self-build dreams!
